GPSC CLASS 3 EXAM SYLLABUS 2020


GPSC syllabus has been prepared by Gujarat Public Service Commission. The Commission is constitutionally authorized to set and change the system of GPSC examinations and to take decisions on matters of recruitment, transfer and discipline.

The GPSC exam is conducted in 2 stages.


  • Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  • Stage 2: Main Exam (Written and Personal Interview)

The syllabus of GPSC exam is similar to UPSC syllabus; The only difference is that the GPSC curriculum will have history, culture, geography subjects related to the state of Gujarat.

To solve questions on science and technology, GPSC exam syllabus candidates do not need any specialization from science stream.
Under the history section, according to the GPSC exam syllabus, candidates need to focus on the history of Gujarat.
According to the GPSC syllabus, candidates under the Department of Geography will have to prepare for the social and economic geography of Gujarat and India.

The GPSC exam for Mains exam includes the following papers

Paper 1 - Gujarati

The syllabus of detailed GPSC examination for Gujarati paper of Mains examination is given below

Maximum marks of 150 marks for each paper

  • 900 marks of all major papers
  • 100 marks for personality test (interview)
  • The final selection will take into account the total marks for 1000 marks
  • Form of questions Descriptive type questions

GPSC Personality Test / Interview is held for candidates who clear the GPSC Main Stage of GPSC Exam. The interview (in GPSC exam pattern) is for 100 marks and tests general aptitude for general awareness, character, expression, personality, intelligence, and service.

No:- APE-80/2018-19-Main-CNF DATE:- 08.09.2020

1. The result of the Combined Competitive Examination (Main) for the post of State 
Tax Inspector, Class-III (Advertisement No. 80/2018-19) held on 24-November-
2019 and 01-December-2019 is hereby declared as per Annexure-I.

2. The above result is declared taking into consideration the provisions of the State 
Tax Inspector, Class-III Competitive Examination Rules, 2018, dated 12th October, 
2018 and amendments made thereafter from time to time and other relevant 
applicable criteria.

3. As provided in the State Tax Inspector, Class-III Competitive Examination Rules, 
2018, dated 12th October, 2018 and amendments made thereafter from time to 
time,

(i) As per Rule-14(1) : the merit has been prepared on the basis of the 
aggregate marks (total marks) awarded to the candidates in the Main 
Examination (i.e. 400 marks of written examination).

(ii) As per Rule 14(3) : Waiting List is prepared by the Commission.

(iii) As per Rule 16 : the candidate, who fails to attend the main examination 
or fails to attend any of the main examination papers shall considered as 
ineligible for selection.


4. (i) The Reserved Category Candidates (EWS/SC/ST/SEBC), who get either 
equal or more than minimum marks fixed as qualifying standard for general 
candidates and have not availed of any relaxation in age, qualifying standard 
etc. at any point of the examination process (Meritorious reserved Category 
{MRC} Candidates) are selected against unreserved common posts as per in 
order of merit, as per Government circular, GAD No. PVS-1099-MM-13-G4 
dated 29-1-2000, PVS-2010-03-900-G4, dated 23/07/2004 and Govt.
Resolution, GAD No. PVS-102019-221-G.4 Dated 07/02/2019.

(ii) The Reserved Category candidates, who have though secured their place in 
the merit of General common category, however, they are selected against the 
posts of their respective categories as they have availed the benefit of 
relaxation in age/ Cut-Off Marks in P.T. or Main Written Examination as per 
Government circular, GAD No. PVS-1099-MM-13-G4 dated 29-1-2000, PVS-
2010-03-900-G4, dated 23/07/2004 and Govt. Resolution, GAD No. PVS-
102019-221-G.4 Dated 07/02/2019. 


(iii) With regard to women reservation, the result is prepared taking into 
consideration the Government Notification GAD No. GS/97-13-
CRR/1096/2213/G-2, dated 9th April, 1997, GAD Circular No.
CRR/1096/2213/G-2, dated 22/05/1997 and GAD Resolution No.
CRR/1096/2213/G-2 (Part-1), dated 11/11/2014. 
5. (A) PD (Physically Disabled) Candidates & Ex-Serviceman candidates have been 
considered under their respective category after relaxing upto 10% marks of 
the Qualifying Standard fixed for their respective category. All such 
candidates are accommodated against the reserved posts for disabled/Ex-
serviceman category, in their respective categories. Applicable disability 
Level & Type of disability for the post as provided in the Recruitment 
Advertisement is referred while considering a post for PD Candidates.


(B) As per the instruction of circular No. CRR-1096-2213-G.2, Dated: 31.08.2004 
of General Administration Department & O.O. No. નવન-1095-206-Part-V-
R&D, dated 20/07/2015 of the Commission, the result of the widow 
candidates is prepared after addition of Bonus Mark in the applicable Stage of 
Examination Process. Bonus marks is 5% marks of the obtained marks by the 
candidate.


(C) In case of equal marks, the merit was assigned taking into consideration the 
date of birth (i.e. preference is given to the elder).


(D) The result is prepared following the ratio laid down by the following 
Judgements of the Hon'ble Supreme Court:

2. The above result is subject to revision after rechecking of marks of those 
candidates who apply for the same. 
3. Candidates appeared in the Main Written Examination and desire for 
rechecking of marks, are requested to send their application along with 
requisite information and fees as mentioned in the Advertisement for 
rechecking of marks within 30 days from the date of declaration of this
result as per the Rule 18(1) of the State Tax Inspector, Class-III Competitive 
Examination Rules, 2018, dated 12th October, 2018.



4. Candidates appeared in the Main Written Examination and desire to receive 
Mark‐sheet of Main Examination, are requested to send their application 
along with requisite information and fees as mentioned in the Advertisement 
within 15 days from the date of declaration of this result as per the Rule 
18(2) of the said rule.

Education Qualifications:
A candidate shall hold a Bachelor’s degree of any University incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by Government.
A candidate who has appeared or intend to appear or awaiting result of final semester/year of the required qualification, can apply, but the candidate has to qualify and submit the required qualification as advertised before the last date of submitting application for mains examination. Also the candidate must have completed 20 years of age on the last date of online application.

Age Limits: A candidate shall not be less than 20 years of age and not be more than 35 years of age as on 31-07-2018 Age will be calculated as on the last date of receipt of application. Upper
age limit shall be relaxed as per Gujarat Government Rules.

Pay Scale: 
For Class-I : Pay Matrix Level No: 10- Rs.56,100-1,77,500 and other allowances (According to 7th Pay Commission)
For Class-II : Pay Matrix Level No: 8- Rs.44,900-1,42,400 and other allowances (According to 7th Pay Commission)
